Plans and Pricing

Home Service Club currently offers two primary home warranty plans: standard and comprehensive.

You’ll notice on their website there aren’t any prices listed under their plans since the price will depend on where you live and how big your property is. You can easily find out what the price will be after submitting this information and a few more details online.

Standard Coverage: This is their more affordable option and covers major home appliances and systems, like refrigerators, dishwasher, air conditioner, and more.

For example, if you live in a single-family home in Miami, Florida that’s less than 5,000 square feet the price for standard coverage would be $584.96 for 13 months, or $51.25 a month.

Comprehensive Coverage: This plan covers everything under the standard plan plus some extras, like gas leaks, plumbing stoppage, pest control, and more.

For example, if you live in a single-family home in Miami, Florida, that’s less than 5,000 square feet the price for comprehensive coverage would be $719.96 for 13 months, or $62.50 a month.

Again, prices can vary greatly depending on the size of your home and the state you live in. Visit their website or call them to get a quick quote.

In addition to these two plans, customers can also select from a list of add-ons when buying a plan to add more flexibility, like roof coverage and well pump coverage.

There’s a standard 30-day waiting period after purchasing a plan in which there is no coverage.

Service Fees

When making a claim, customers will be required to pay a Trade Service Call Fee of $65 each time.

This price is a flat-rate fee and doesn’t change no matter which plan you choose or where you live.

Payout Caps

While there’s no limit to the number of claims customers can make, Home Service Club does have payout caps, meaning they’ll only pay up to a certain amount, which is standard in the industry.

The max payout cap per home per year is $9,000, but each category has its own payout cap as well.

For example, Home Service Club will pay up to $2,000 per contract term for the repair or replacement of air conditioning systems and heating systems combined.

And they’ll pay up to $500 per contract term for the repair or replacement of recirculating hot water pump, gas leaks, water leaks, sump pump, water heaters, electrical systems, and so on.

When getting a quote online and right before you check out, you’ll see a Terms of Service link which will show a sample contract that includes all payment caps for each appliance and system under both plans.

When buying any plan, a home inspection is not required. Anyone can easily purchase a plan online or over the phone.

Exclusions

Just as with any home warranty company, there are always exclusions when it comes to what’s covered.

Be sure to review the Terms of Service in your contract to find out what is and isn’t covered along with additional exclusions.

For example, if you check under Air Conditioning Systems (Standard Coverage) in the sample contract, you’ll find all the parts covered, like ducted central electric split and package units, swamp coolers, wall air conditioners, and mechanical parts.

What’s not included for the AC system are humidifiers, electronic air cleaners, pumps, filters, and more.

Failures caused by the customer, a third party, or natural disasters are not covered. And pre-existing conditions in plumbing systems are also not covered.

Claims & Repairs

You can file a home warranty claim by calling Home Service Club’s customer service online 24 hours a day through their website or by calling them.

Once a claim has been submitted, Home Service Club will refer you to a service contractor in their network within 12 hours during normal business hours and within 24-48 hours for requests submitted after normal business hours or on weekends.

For emergency requests, Home Service Club will determine if the repair constitutes an emergency and will make a reasonable effort to expedite services, but it’s not guaranteed.

Customer Service

While customers can submit claims anytime online, customer service agents can only be reached via phone from 9am-5pm EST, Monday through Friday.

Currently, Home Service Club is not BBB accredited and isn’t a member of the NHSCA.

Final Thoughts

While Home Service Club doesn’t have the accreditations many of their competitors have (like BBB or NHSCA), they do offer solid coverage in even their basic Standard Coverage Plan and for a good price.

Their service fee ($65) is below the industry average, which is between $75-$125. The only downside is that the fee isn’t listed in the sample contract when you’re checking out. So we recommend calling first to ensure the fee hasn’t risen.

Overall, Home Service Club offers good coverage at an affordable price. You can get a quote online to find out the cost, and even get a better deal by reaching out directly to one of their representatives.
