Service Fees
ServicePlus Home Warranty has a large network of service contractors, each of whom has undergone pre-screening, is licensed, and is properly insured. You do not usually have the option to use your own service professionals as part of this home warranty cover. The performances of technicians are monitored and customers grade their satisfaction with their service.
If a service contractor needs to go to your home to assess an issue, there will be a $60 flat fee charged. This is one of the lowest rates you will find in the home warranty space today. The service professional will be chosen from ServicePlus Home Warranty’s in-house network and maintenance records are necessary for service to take place.
Payout Caps
There is a payout cap of $1,500 per contract item for access, diagnosis, repair, and/or replacement. You should read the Terms for full details though as certain items have lower payout caps. There is a workmanship guarantee of 90 days for parts and 30 days for labor.
Coverage
Coverage for your home warranty policy will kick in 30 days after you have signed up and you have paid the relevant fees. Coverage of appliances and systems listed in your chosen plan is regardless of the model, make, or age of the given system or appliance. Exclusions
There is no home inspection needed before you are able to get coverage. The ServicePlus Home Warranty customer contract will only cover repair and/or replacements that result from mechanical failure due to usual wear and tear. Therefore, some of the aspects that won’t be covered include lack of maintenance, natural disasters, water damage, and accidents.
You can see a detailed list of all exclusions in the ServicePlus Home Warranty Service Agreement. You should thoroughly review these before agreeing to a ServicePlus Home Warranty plan so that you won’t be surprised later. For example, while refrigerators are covered, according to the Service Agreement they are only covered if located in the kitchen. You’ll find that there are a lot of exceptions, but this is pretty typical for home warranty providers.
Claims & Repairs
If you sign up for home warranty coverage, you are able to reach the claims hotline on a 24/7 basis should you run into an issue that is covered by your package. You can also submit a claim through the ServicePlus Home Warranty website. On average, a technician will arrive at your home within 48 hours of submitting a claim.
When the professional visits your house, there will be a $60 service fee charged. If the issue is covered under the home warranty, ServicePlus Home Warranty will repair or replace the appliance or system up to a max cost of $1,500. You’ll find more specific details in their Service Terms. For example, for whirlpool bathtubs, their terms note that they’ll cover no more than up to $500 for access, diagnosis, repair, or replacement during the coverage term.
Customer Service
You are able to file a claim 24/7 online or by calling the ServicePlus Home Warranty claims department toll-free number.
In addition, during the current pandemic, if you are looking to contact them regarding the status of a claim you are able to visit their customer portal for updates.
Furthermore, ServicePlus Home Warranty guarantees homeowners labor for 30 days as well as parts for 90 days. Should a problem arise owing to labor provided by ServicePlus Home Warranty on your repair within 30 days, ServicePlus Home Warranty will send out another technician to resolve this issue at no additional cost.
Final Thoughts
With a 24/7 claims submission facility and a relatively low service fee, and monthly costs in line with the industry average, ServicePlus Home Warranty is a worthwhile option for homeowners looking for extra protection and security for appliances and other systems.
