Start by filling out a short online questionnaire that helps customize your experience. Then, head over to the application — this takes around 10 minutes to complete and can be done on a computer or mobile device.
On the application, be prepared to answer questions about your personal, health, and professional circumstances. The first series of questions will help Fabric determine whether you need a will or life insurance. These include:
- Whether there are minors in the house (under the age of 18)
- If you have a mortgage
- What other debts you have
After this, you’ll need to create an account to save your progress. Then, you’ll be asked a series of questions specific to your lifestyle and overall health, such as:
- Your first and last name
- Gender assigned at birth
- SSN
- Birthplace
- Location
- Whether you participate in extreme sports
- If you’ve recently flown an aircraft
This section can take several minutes to complete as there are quite a few questions. Once you’ve done it, simply digitally sign the application and wait for Fabric to contact you. Depending on your answers, you may receive an instant offer or need to speak with an underwriter. The underwriter will ask additional questions to help them decide whether to offer coverage, how much, and at what premium.
At this point, a medical exam may be required. In this case, you’ll need to schedule it via phone or email. Scheduling tends to be flexible to work with your work and home life. Fabric will send a health examiner to your home at the appointed time. The examiner will then perform a physical and potentially take a blood sample.
Finally, Fabric will evaluate your entire application and make an offer — or not —, depending on your results. You’ll have up to 60 days to accept the offer before it expires.
Fabric does not provide life insurance in all states. If they don’t offer it in your area, they can connect you with a trusted partner.
